Understand Disperse Dyes

Disperse dyes are water-insoluble, nonionic colorants engineered for hydrophobic synthetics—primarily polyester—applied as micronized dispersions that diffuse into the fiber under heat. They run efficiently across HTHP dyeing, pad-dry-thermosol, and dye-sublimation/inkjet workflows, delivering level shades and reliable repeatability. Typical uses include apparel and performance sportswear, home textiles, and automotive interiors, where bright color and—when specified—high wash- and heat-fastness are required.

High Washing Fastness Disperse Dyes

HAOHUA Chemical deliver high-wash-fastness disperse dye solutions that solve polyester’s core pain points—dyeing difficulty, heat-vs-wash fastness tradeoffs, and mass-production shade drift—enabling vivid, durable color with stable, industrial-scale repeatability.

Wash-Durable Disperse Dyes

Wash-Durable Color, Minimal Staining

Haohua Chemical’s high-wash-fastness disperse dyes keep polyester shades true after repeated home or commercial laundering. Minimal staining and excellent levelness reduce rework and protect brand standards across diverse textile substrates.

Optimized for High-Temperature Polyester Dyeing

Formulated for HTHP and pad-dry-thermosol processes, they deliver superior penetration and uniform coverage. A wide shade range and high batch-to-batch reproducibility enable industrial-scale production with tight ΔE tolerances.

High-Temperature Polyester Dyeing

High Wash Fastness Disperse Dyes Parameters

Three pillars of truly "high wash fastness" disperse dyes: wash fastness score + post-heat stability + floating color control.

Wash Fastness (WF)

Spec: CC 4–5 / ST 4–5 (multifiber adjacent; worst-case ST ≥4) Method@Program: ISO 105-C06 / AATCC 61 (supports 60 °C home-wash and 95 °C commercial-wash programs) What it means: Grey scale 4–5 = very slight to no visible change; ST 4–5 = minimal staining on cotton/polyamide/polyester/wool/acetate/polypropylene. Practically, garments and home textiles won’t noticeably fade or bleed after repeated washes, protecting light-colored linings and trims. Use cases: Athleisure, school/work uniforms, hotel/commercial-laundered home textiles, functional knits, linings.

Sublimation Fastness / Heat Migration (SF)

Spec: ≥4 grade @ 180–210 °C × 30–60 s Standard: ISO 105-P02 What it means: After dry-heat exposures—heat-setting, thermosol, ironing, lamination—shades show only slight change and do not migrate to the surface, preventing later wash bleed. Use cases: Continuous pad-dry-thermosol on wovens, heat-intensive post-finishing, automotive interior base fabrics, substrates prior to coating/lamination.

Surface Floating Color Control / Crocking

Spec: Dry ≥4, Wet ≥3–4 Standard: ISO 105-X12 / AATCC 8 What it means: Residual surface color is effectively removed/fixed; low transfer risk during sewing, wear, transport, or contact with light shades—especially critical for deep blacks/navies. Use cases: Dark performance apparel, deep-shade bedding sets, styles with light trims/labels/piping.

High Wash Fastness Disperse Dyes Applications

Disperse dyes for polyester fabrics and apparel

Fabrics & Apparel

From knits and athleisure to uniforms, linings, outdoor fabrics, home textiles, and automotive upholstery, our high-wash-fastness disperse dyes keep polyester shades vivid and clean after repeated laundering. Proven CC/ST 4–5 performance and low staining protect light trims and linings while preserving hand feel and drape.

Disperse dyes for polyester fibers and blends

Fibers, Yarns & Blends

Engineered for polyester filament and staple—including microfibers—our dyes deliver level, deep shades in package and piece dyeing. They also enable cationic-dyeable polyester (CDP) dual-dyeing and cross-dyeing of blends (e.g., PET/cotton, PET/viscose: disperse for PET + reactive/direct for cellulose) to achieve sharp tonality and consistent ΔE across lots.

Disperse dyes for HTHP and thermosol processes

Process Compatibility

Optimized for HTHP jet/overflow at ~130 °C and pad-dry-thermosol (~200 °C), the range provides superior penetration, uniform coverage, and high batch reproducibility. For graphic-rich designs, pair with our low/medium-energy sublimation grades for efficient transfer and keep high-fastness grades for heat-intensive, wash-critical programs.

FAQs

Q: What are the advantages of disperse dyes?
They’re the best-in-class route for polyester and other hydrophobic synthetics, delivering bright shades, high build, and excellent levelness. Medium/high-energy grades offer high wash fastness with low heat migration, and they run efficiently across HTHP exhaust (~130 °C), pad-dry-thermosol (~190–210 °C), and dye-sublimation/digital workflows.
Q: What are the ingredients in disperse dye?
Typical powder/granule formulations include the disperse dye chromophore (azo, anthraquinone), primary dispersants (e.g., NSF condensates/lignosulfonates), wetting/leveling aids, protective colloids, and small amounts of defoamer/preservatives. For liquid pastes and digital inks, the system uses micronized dye in a water/solvent + humectant blend with polymeric dispersants, plus trace additives for stability and jetting reliability.
Q: Which fibers and processes are they designed for?
Primarily polyester (PET), also acetate/triacetate and certain modified polyesters; blends like PET/cotton or PET/viscose use cross-dyeing (disperse for PET + reactive/direct for cellulose). Processes: HTHP exhaust, pad-dry-thermosol, and sublimation transfer/inkjet (use low/medium-energy grades for transfer efficiency; high-fastness grades for heat-intensive, wash-critical programs).
Q: What fastness levels do your high-wash-fastness grades achieve?
Wash fastness: CC 4–5 / ST 4–5 on multifiber adjacents per ISO 105-C06 / AATCC 61 (60 °C home-wash or 95 °C commercial-wash programs). Sublimation/heat migration: ≥4 grade @ 180–210 °C × 30–60 s (ISO 105-P02). Crocking: Dry ≥4, Wet ≥3–4 (ISO 105-X12 / AATCC 8).
Q:How do you control staining and shade repeatability in mass production?
We combine stable dispersions and controlled thermal profiles with validated reduction clearing to remove surface color, then verify with crocking and tight ΔE tolerances across lots—minimizing rework, protecting light trims/linings, and ensuring industrial-scale reproducibility.
